This 5-day itinerary is a mobile safari adventure designed for a group of 6-8 guests, offering an immersive experience in the Okavango Delta.

The journey combines traditional mokoro excursions with guided walking safaris, allowing you to explore the diverse ecosystems on foot and by water. Day 1: Arrival in Maun & Transfer to the Delta

Morning/Afternoon: Your Unfold Africa guide will meet you at Maun International Airport (MUB) or your hotel in Maun. You will have a briefing on the safari ahead and a chance to ask any last-minute questions.

Transfer: A safari vehicle will transfer you from Maun into the Okavango Delta. The drive, approximately 1-2 hours, takes you through local villages and changing landscapes, offering your first taste of the wilderness.

Mokoro Station: You’ll arrive at a mokoro station where you’ll meet your local “polers.” The mokoros (traditional dugout canoes) will be loaded with your gear, and you will begin a serene journey through the winding channels of the Okavango.

Campsite: The mokoro journey will take you to your private, pre-set campsite in the Kaziikini concession area. Upon arrival, you’ll be shown to your tents and have time to settle in.

Evening: Enjoy sundowners by the campfire as the sun sets over the delta. Your chef will prepare a delicious dinner under the stars, followed by an evening of storytelling around the fire.

Day 2: Walking Safari and Mokoro Exploration

Early Morning: Wake up with a hot cup of coffee or tea delivered to your tent. After a light breakfast, you’ll embark on your first guided walking safari. Your guide will share their deep knowledge of the bush, tracking animals, identifying plants, and pointing out the smaller details often missed from a vehicle.

Mid-day: Return to camp for a hearty brunch. The hottest part of the day is a great time to relax in the shade, read a book, or simply watch the wildlife from the comfort of the camp.

Afternoon: The afternoon is dedicated to further exploration by mokoro. Your polers will guide you silently through the clear waters, offering a unique perspective on the aquatic life and bird species that thrive in the Delta. You may see elephants, red lechwe, or even a sitatunga antelope from a distance.

Evening: Enjoy sundowners from a scenic spot, followed by another delicious dinner and relaxing evening around the campfire.

Day 3: Full Day of Walking & Wilderness Immersion

Early Morning: After an early breakfast, you will head out on a longer walking safari. This day focuses on getting a deeper sense of the wilderness. Your guide will lead you to different areas, looking for specific tracks and signs of wildlife, and sharing insights into animal behavior.

Mid-day: A picnic lunch will be served at a picturesque location in the bush. This is a chance to rest and soak in the tranquil sounds of the Delta before continuing your walk.

Late Afternoon: You’ll return to camp for a refreshing shower and a little downtime.

Evening: A three-course dinner will be served, followed by time to reflect on the day’s encounters and enjoy the sounds of the African night.

Day 4: Mokoro to a New Location & Island Walk

Morning: After breakfast, you will pack up camp and say goodbye to your support team. Your mokoro adventure continues as you glide through new channels to a different part of the concession. This is a chance to see a new section of the Delta and its unique habitats.

Mid-day: A light lunch will be served on one of the larger islands. This island will serve as your temporary base for a guided walking safari, where you can explore the land-based ecosystems.

Late Afternoon: Return to your mokoros for the final leg of your journey to a new campsite. You’ll arrive in the late afternoon, with time to relax before dinner.

Evening: A farewell dinner with your guide and polers, celebrating the experiences and connections made during the safari.

Day 5: Final Mokoro & Departure

Early Morning: Enjoy a final morning coffee and breakfast at camp. Take one last short mokoro trip or walking safari, savoring the final moments of the wilderness.

Late Morning: You’ll board your mokoros for the final time, heading back to the mokoro station where the safari vehicle will be waiting.

Transfer: A scenic road transfer will take you back to Maun, arriving in the early afternoon. You’ll be dropped off at Maun International Airport or your hotel, ready for your onward travel.

Departure: A fond farewell from your Unfold Africa guide.
